Clínica Espregueira, located at Estádio do Dragão in Porto, is a reference in Orthopedics with a focus on sports medicine, surgery and physiotherapy, being the only clinic in the Iberian Peninsula accredited as a FIFA Medical Center of Excellence.
Clinica Espregueira was founded in 1986 under the direction of Professor João Duarte Espregueira-Mendes, Orthopedist. The first member of the Espregueira-Mendes family to specialize in Orthopedics was João Espregueira-Mendes, who launched his career in 1926. His son, J.M. Espregueira-Mendes MD, was the orthopedic surgeon at FC Porto for a decade until 1989. Currently, Professor J.D. Espregueira-Mendes is the clinical director of Clínica Espregueira (Clínica do Dragão), as well as the president of ESSKA (European Society of Sports Trauma, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy) and board member of ISAKOS (International Society of Sports Trauma, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy).
With an area covering 2000 square meters, the clinic inside Estádio do Dragão in Oporto, gathers a group of doctors, nurses and technicians of excellent training, reputation and experience focused in Orthopedics with appointments, surgeries, auxiliary exams and medical treatments.
World Recognition in Sports Medicine
Clínica Espregueira pays special attention to Sports Medicine, supporting, among others, both amateur and professional athletes from Futebol Clube do Porto.
